AUSCO Visiting Settlement Advisers
Four positions, three-week placements - East Africa
(Kenya) or West Africa (Ghana or Guinea)
The Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) is assisting the International
Organization for Migration (IOM) to find suitably qualified personnel to fill
four short-term Visiting Settlement Adviser (VSA) positions with the Australian
Cultural Orientation (AUSCO) Program. The four people recruited for the program
will be deployed in two teams of two people - one team to East Africa and the
other team to West Africa. It is expected that the East Africa assignment will
take place in April in Kenya and the West Africa assignment in June (probably
in either Ghana or Guinea). Each assignment will be for approximately three weeks.
Those selected will be deployed for one assignment (not both). Applications for

Austcare
Protection Officers - Rapid Response Register
Austcare's Rapid Response Register boosts the protection capacity of UN agencies
and Austcare programs in sudden and chronic emergencies. It is a roster of professional
protection practitioners available for deployment to United Nations (and other
approved) agencies for periods of 3-12 months. Applications are being sought for
Field Protection Officers, Child Protection Officers and Gender-based Violence
specialists. The register is open to people qualified and experienced in working
with refugee, displaced or vulnerable communities (preferably with an aid agency
overseas) and have a thorough knowledge of human rights, child protection and/or

Centre for Refugee Research (UNSW) - NSW
The Centre for Refugee Research based at the University of
New South Wales in Sydney has a part-time research position available from January
to June 2009. People from a refugee background with a university degree are strongly
